Spinal Cord Society, Northwest Chapter and The Michael-Ryan Pattison Foundation are having a Bingo Party. You are invited!

We are uniting our efforts to support research for a cure and the creation of a specialized therapy center in the Seattle area that provides hope and healing for children and adults living with paralysis.

Nearly half a million people in the U.S. are living with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI). Each year there are 11,000 new SCI’s adding over $1 billion in new medical costs and overwhelming tragedy to many families. Today’s standard of care for those suffering an SCI is 15 days of acute care hospitalization followed by an average of 40 days of rehabilitative therapy. In laymen’s terms and in Michael-Ryan’s experience, beyond the acute phase, “You are on your own.”

That’s why, “We are in this together.” Through research for a cure and restorative therapies, our organizations are focused on restoring function to those with chronic SCI and many other neurological disorders such as ALS, MS, stroke trauma and Parkinson’s, to name a few. Advancement in research and rehabilitation is showing great promise in helping people beyond the acute phase recover sensation, movement and independence.

In his quest to find a cure for paralysis, Christopher Reeve said, “I try to emphasize that what I do is based on powers that we all have inside us. The ability to endure–the ability to love–the ability to carry on–the ability to make the best of it is something we can all find and you don’t have to be a superman to do it.”
We agree. Endurance. Perseverance. Love. These are powers we all possess. Join us as we celebrate
and use our abilities to make a difference for those living with paralysis.

Gratefully Yours,
